/ 14/03/2011 / codexHans T. Zeiner-Henriksen has researched a specific rhythm pattern found in a great deal of dance music to find answers to these questions. His main focus has been 90s club music, but his findings also have validity beyond the boundaries of this genre.
A bodily perspective can in many cases be central to understanding why something works well or poorly. In the context of composition and production, it is therefore important to have a broad understanding of which processes can be initiated through musical choices. The lecture will contain musical examples from several genres – from DaftPunk to Mozart.
is an associate professor at the Department of Musicology at the University of Oslo. He has taught at the department since 1994 and received his doctorate "The 'Poumtchak' pattern: Correspondences between Rhythm, Sound, and Movement in Electronic Dance Music" as a research fellow associated with the research project Rhythm in the Age of Digital Reproduction.
