Music is an export commodity

Far from all artists write their own songs. Norwegian songwriters compose songs for some of the world's biggest stars. Trondheim Song:Expo is one of many Norwegian camps where songwriters meet and stretch their creativity to the limit. Here, one day in the studio can turn into a hit in Korea.

International record labels are always looking for the next big hit, and many talented musicians have made their careers writing songs to order. Trondheim Song:Expo is one of a growing number of Norwegian songwriting camps. Every year, promising and experienced Norwegian and international songwriters gather for a creative sprint.

The participants are divided into small teams and given tips on what kind of songs for which artists record labels are looking for. More and more often there is talk of international export, and Asia and Korea are important markets. With almost 80 million kroner in foreign income, TONO's annual results show that Norwegian music is being played abroad like never before.

TONO is one of Trondheim Song:Expo's partners.
