Music publishers can now apply to the Music Publishers to receive Kopinor remuneration. The deadline is June 9th.
/ 02/06/2017 / codexMusikkforleggerne, which is one of three group associations in TONO, receives remuneration from Kopinor for copying printed Norwegian musical works. As a member organization in Kopinor, Musikkforleggerne is responsible for the management and distribution of such remuneration. New guidelines and criteria for this scheme have now been adopted.
The music publishers, who handle the applications, are dependent on authorizations and reports in order to distribute royalties. If this is not submitted, royalties cannot be distributed. Royalties from copying are mainly collective royalties. There is only statistical material that provides the country of origin of publication and author, but not which work has been copied.
Only Norwegian-registered music publishers domiciled in Norway can receive Kopinor remuneration.
Recipients of remuneration are divided into two groups, publishers and rights publishers.
Publishers are those who publish sheet music, and remuneration is settled on the basis of reported information about sheet music publications:
A) Older releases
B) New releases last calendar year
Forms are available at: http://www.musikkforleggerne.no/kopinorvederlag/
For copyright publishers, remuneration is settled on the basis of reported information about works published on sheet music, as well as on the basis of Norwegian main settlement in TONO, and the following forms must be submitted:
A) Third-party licensing form
B) Power of attorney TONO
Forms are available at: http://www.musikkforleggerne.no/kopinorvederlag/
The corps and church area
For Kopinor remuneration paid by corps, a distribution is made based on tax returns for works, and the total number of publications. From the church area, a distribution is made based on a percentage share of the body of works. This can be reported by email to: cathrine@musikkforleggerne.no.
Membership in Musikkforlaggerne is not a condition for applying.
