“This year's winner of the Norwegian Artists Association's honorary award comes from Lørenskog, was born in 1983, and despite his young age has been in the music industry for over 15 years. (…)
The award-winning solo career began with the single Don't Save Me in 2006 and the album Under the Surface, which gave her top positions in Norway for all four singles, a feat no Norwegian artist has managed before or since. The album was followed by extensive festival and touring activities and eventually her first solo stage was rewarded with the Spellemannpris for Best Female Artist in 2007 and the Alarmprisen in the pop category. When the sequel The Chase came out last year, there was excitement about whether she would be able to follow up on her success. However, she put the skeptics' predictions to shame by easily conquering the top of the sales and radio charts with If a Song Could Get Me You.
This fall she has performed an artistic demonstration of power by establishing an international career as a sales leader in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, thus proving that Norwegian music as an export product is also an area of focus for the future. It is a great honor to present the Norwegian Artists' Association's Honorary Award for 2009 to Marit Larsen.”
