Yesterday, Maria Mena was awarded TONO's Edvard Prize during the "Over Oslo" festival. She received the award for the album "Viktoria" in the popular music category, and the jury praised Mena for developing into a songwriter with a signature of her own.

– Maria Mena balances deeply personal and dark lyrics with beautiful and accessible melodies. With the album “Viktoria” she stands out as a mature and prominent figure in Norwegian cultural life. – I am super proud and grateful for this fine award. This award should be put on the mantelpiece and enjoyed, TONO’s Edvard Award consists of Bruno Oldani’s unique trophy, diploma and kr 50.000.
The Edvard Prize, named after Edvard Grieg, is a prize awarded by TONO to authors for outstanding musical works. The prize is given to authors who have created musical works and lyrics of high artistic quality. With the prize, TONO wants to increase awareness of Norwegian composers and lyricists and increase people's understanding and knowledge of newly written Norwegian music. The winner's music or lyrics must have been premiered or published in the previous year. Emphasis is also placed on the author's other production.
