TONO is today launching a marketing campaign to increase awareness of TONO and the rights our members have, and which TONO manages for them. The campaign consists of a film, as well as a campaign page at www.tono.no/opphavsrett where the most important things about what TONO does, and what copyright entails, are summarized in very brief terms.
– It is an ongoing task for TONO to inform about laws and regulations surrounding the use of music in public spaces, and the activities we conduct on behalf of our members. It is important for us to create an understanding of the TONO fee, and who gets the money that must be paid to use the world repertoire publicly. That is the reason why we have launched this campaign, says TONO's communications manager, Willy Martinsen.
Intending hairdresser customers are surprised
The campaign film, which is published on Facebook and YouTube, is set in a natural setting where TONO's repertoire is used, a hair salon. Here, unsuspecting hairdressing customers are surprised by Madcon, and the point is to highlight the joy and value that music creates.
– We are very pleased that Madcon wants to help increase awareness of TONO and composers' rights. Madcon are great representatives of Norwegian composers and lyricists, and an example of someone who creates joy whether their music is performed at festivals or as background music at a hairdresser. It is important to ensure a sustainable music life so that it is possible to make a living from making music in the future. Therefore, awareness is needed among everyone who uses music publicly, says Willy Martinsen.
Other TONO members have also given their voice to the campaign: Thomas Seltzer, Silje Halstensen, Kaveh and Thomas Gullestad. These are represented with quotes on the campaign page www.tono.no/opphavsrett.
