Peder Losnegård, better known as LidoLido, is this year's winner of the Edvard Prize in the popular music category. The prize is sponsored by TONO, and a highly competent music jury awarded LidoLido the prize based on his debut album "Pretty girls & Grey Sweaters".
/ 29/08/2013 / codexPeder Losnegård will be presented with the award by jury chair Ingrid Kindem during his concert at Rockefeller in Oslo on August 30. The award consists of a scholarship of 50,000 kroner, a unique trophy by Bruno Oldani and a diploma. Losnegård, who has been a TONO member since 2006, is very grateful for the award:
Losnegård is in famous company at the awarding of the Edvard Prize. Some of the previous winners in the Popular Music category are Jan Eggum, Jørn Christensen, Odd Nordstoga, Jan Ove Ottesen/Kai Zahl, Thomas Dybdahl, Kjartan Kristiansen, Even Johansen (Magnet)Bjørn Eidsvåg, Anne Grete Preus, Bent Sæther/Hans Magnus Ryan (Motorpsycho), Susanne Sundfør and Maria Mena.
The EDVARD jury in 2013 consisted of jury chair Ingrid Kindem (NOPA – Norwegian Association of Composers and Lyricists), Kari Bremnes (NOPA), Arvid Wam Solvang (NOPA), Nils Henrik Asheim (NKF – Norwegian Composers’ Association), Lars Petter Hagen (NKF) and Jan Stefan Bengtsson (Norwegian Music Publishers’ Association).
The Edvard Prize, named after Edvard Grieg, is a prize awarded by TONO to composers and songwriters for outstanding musical works. The prize is given to composers who have created musical works and lyrics of high artistic quality. With the prize, TONO wants to increase awareness of Norwegian composers and lyricists and increase people's understanding and knowledge of newly written Norwegian music. The winner's music or lyrics must have been premiered or published in the previous year. Emphasis is also placed on the composer's other production.
