It was then, in her early teens, that she received a pink discman from America, and found September Song with Sarah Vaughan and Clifford Brown on one of my mother's CDs that it happened.
She stopped hanging out with the ramp girls with MC jackets, switched to Kiss, and started walking around listening to jazz alone.
