What has been a wish from many members and a goal for TONO is about to become a reality. At the turn of September/October, the first quarterly settlement from TONO will be released. For you as a TONO member, this means that you will be paid out faster and more often!
/ 27/09/2011 / codex– We are starting with more frequent settlements in the broadcasting area, says membership director Christian Onshus, and the goal is for concert settlements to follow suit. Most radio and television channels are settled quarterly from September/October. This settlement covers the period January-March for the performance year 2011.
“Some channels that are settled according to a statistical sample (the sampling principle) will only be settled in June 2012,” says Onshus. Statistical sampling means that for administrative reasons, a few reported weeks are selected to represent the entire year.
Because the final distribution amount and the final number of minute points are unknown at the time we start settling a new year, settlements are made based on calculated estimates.
– To ensure that we do not use up the money for the last quarter in the first three quarters, safe values are used, assures Onshus. This means that we may have to run a final settlement after the fourth quarter has been settled. This means that you may have to settle the same carryover twice.
– Billing for the same performance twice is nothing new. In several cases where negotiations have been ongoing between a broadcaster and TONO, and we have therefore received remuneration for a period in two installments, we have billed performances twice. This does not mean that you receive double payment for the same performance, but that you are paid for the same performance in two installments, explains Onshus.
– No, if you believe the quarterly settlement is incorrect, you can submit a complaint immediately. Any consequences of the complaint will be taken into account in the final settlement, concludes Onshus.

Remember that the limit for receiving compensation from TONO is today kr 250. The amount is accumulated so that earned remuneration is paid out when the amount exceeds the lower limit. You can see how much has been settled on at any time, even if the amount is too low to be paid out. For TONO members residing abroad, different amount limits apply.
