When TONO today settles 143,5 million kroner to rights holders at home and abroad, 26,5 million goes to TONO members who have had their music performed abroad. This is a record high in an ordinary quarterly settlement.
/ 29/09/2017 / Willy Martinsen– We are delighted that TONO's members are doing so well abroad, and we at TONO are working hard to ensure that compensation is returned to our members for their use. It is very nice to be able to settle as much as NOK 26,5 million in foreign settlements to TONO's members this week, says TONO CEO Cato Strøm. The countries from which TONO has collected the largest compensation this time are Sweden, Germany, France, Denmark, Finland and the USA.
A total of 86,8 million to TONO's members
Of the total settlement amount of 143,5 million, 86,8 million kroner goes to TONO members and 53,4 million kroner to rights holders belonging to TONO's sister societies in other countries. 3,3 million kroner is reserved for unidentified rights holders and musical works, unannounced musical works, non-members and disputed rights. The largest area of settlement is concerts. For concert performances in 2016, TONO now settles a total of 71,6 million, of which 50,9 million goes to TONO members.
The areas that TONO settles for in this year's third ordinary quarterly settlement are:
NCB settlement
In addition to the TONO settlement, NCB remuneration is also paid for the use of the music of TONO members on Spotify for the period February to May 2017 and iTunes for the third quarter of 2016. In total, this amounts to kr 7,7 millions.
Around 6500 TONO members have today received an email stating that they have received their settlement. Members can log in My TONO, and see the balance and all movements in their account there.
