From Universal Music to TONO:
Kristin Haugan has accepted the position as the new head of TONO's media department. She will lead TONO's work to secure the best possible payment for composers, songwriters, lyricists and music publishers from music and film streaming services, radio and TV broadcasters, cinemas and other players in the media industry. Haugan will take up the position on 1 February 2024.

In the period 2022-2023 she was in a temporary position as Commercial Director at the same company. Before Universal, she was employed at Spotify Norway from 2010-2013 and before that at finn.no.
– Kristin will be responsible for the important media area, which includes music and film streaming services, radio, TV, cinema and other parts of the media industry. She will lead TONO into a new phase in an area that is in strong development and, for TONO, in growth. Kristin's experience from Universal Music, Spotify and the media industry, combined with her personal qualities, and enthusiasm and commitment to the creators, make us confident that she is the right person in the right place, says Karl Vestli, CEO of TONO.
Haugan will work closely with Polaris hub, the digital licensing hub for music streaming services, which TONO owns together with Danish Koda and Finnish Teosto, and which is led by Erik Brataas. She will lead a department at TONO with three permanent employees and currently one trainee.
Leaving Universal Music for TONO will see her move from one of the major areas of the music industry to another. Haugan is looking forward to starting at TONO.

In 2022, TONO had NOK 260,6 million in revenue from radio and TV broadcasting, NOK 225 million from music and film streaming services, downloads, etc., and NOK 11,5 million from cinemas. In total, this amounted to just under NOK 500 million.
Five years earlier, in 2017, these revenues were just over NOK 340 million. This amounts to 392 million in index-adjusted 2022 NOK. Corrected for index, this gives a real value-added growth of approximately 27 percent.
Haugan will serve out her notice period at Universal Music until she starts at TONO on February 1, 2024.
