Music publishers distribute Kopinorvederlag for copying printed Norwegian musical works. It has been decided that this year's payment will be based on last year's percentage distribution. New music publishers who have not participated in the scheme previously and those publishers who may have had a large increase in the basis for distribution in 2017 should be careful to read this.
/ 28/06/2018 / Willy MartinsenThe Music Publishers Association, which also has seats on TONO's board and committee, is a member of Kopinor, and is responsible for the management and distribution of the Kopinor fee that will accrue to Norwegian music publishers.
In 2017, the Music Publishers' Board appointed a committee to evaluate the scheme and to propose a new distribution model if necessary. No agreement was reached on a new model before this year's distribution, which resulted in the annual meeting deciding that last year's payment should also form the basis for the payment in 2018. This means that last year's percentage of the total remuneration is used on this year's remuneration amount, which is NOK 7,014,197. This is being paid out these days. Remuneration of less than NOK 500 is paid out when the total remuneration is over NOK 500.
Below is a description of the previous model, so that new music publishers who are not currently part of the scheme can submit a basis for joining. If there are publishers who have had a large increase in their basis for distribution in 2017 compared to 2016, which was the basis for last year's payment, please notify Musikkforlaggerne, and this will be treated as a claim that will be paid from reserved funds. The same applies to new publishers.
The deadline for submitting information about this as well as forms from new music publishers is September 1st.

Royalties from copying are mainly collective royalties. There is only statistical material that provides the country of origin of publication and author – but not which work has been copied.
Who can receive compensation?
Norwegian-registered music publishers domiciled in Norway. Recipients of remuneration are divided into two groups (Publisher and Rights Publisher):

The corps and church area
For the remuneration from the corps, a distribution is made based on the tax return for the work, and the total number of publications, while from the church area, a distribution is made based on a percentage share of the body of work. This can be reported by email to: cathrine@musikkforleggerne.no
