Since the founding of TONO in 1929, every chairman has been a music creator. Jørgen Karlstrøm is the latest in this 90-year-long line of composers who have worked for the community. Today, the composer, musician, social debater, record producer and chairman of both the Norwegian Composers' Association and TONO is a guest on Spillelista.

The Altaværingen is a graduate of Toneheim Folk High School, the Grieg Academy in Bergen, the Oslo Academy of Music and the Berlin Academy of Music. On his CV he has commissioned works from the Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic and the Oslo Sinfonietta – but perhaps surprisingly for some he is equally interested in hardcore and black metal, electro-pop, folk music and indie rock.

Karlstrøm's playlist consists exclusively of Norwegian music. This is not a political choice, he says, but rather because:

– There is so much good music. There are so many Norwegian composers, songwriters and musicians who have meant a lot to me. So it was natural that it would be like that. That being said, I could have just chosen music from other countries. Borders mean less and less.

This is Jørgen Karlstrøm's playlist.
