TONO's articles of association §30 (5) state that TONO's board shall elect the chairman and deputy chairman of the board at the first board meeting after the annual meeting. This board meeting took place today, and Ingrid Kindem (NOPA) and Jørgen Karlstrøm (NKF) were elected chairman and deputy chairman, respectively.
Kindem is the chairwoman of NOPA, and has now served on the TONO board since 2014. She also served on the TONO board in 2009 and 2010. She holds a music degree from NTNU in Trondheim, and has been a TONO member since 1992. She has also been an orchestra leader in NRK TV. She has broad experience in music policy, including as a board member of NOPA, the Fund for Sound and Image and the Fund for Performing Artists.
– I am grateful for the trust shown in me by TONO's board, and I look forward to leading the board's work. These are exciting and demanding times for both authors and management companies, perhaps especially when it comes to handling a global, digital music rights economy. I am pleased that we have skilled employees at TONO, a lot of knowledge about technology and a board where the climate of cooperation is good and characterized by mutual respect for each other and the knowledge each one possesses. I am also pleased that the general music community in Norway appears strong and united, says Ingrid Kindem.

The deputy chairman of the board, Jørgen Karlstrøm, is chairman of the Norwegian Composers' Association. He is a composer, musician and record producer. He has studied at the Grieg Academy, the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, and the Norwegian Academy of Music. He has collaborated with conductors such as Pierre André Valade and Jukka-Pekka Saraste, and has had commissioned works from, among others, KORK, Oslo Sinfonietta, Oslo Philharmonic, NOSO and the Arditti Quartet. He also runs the record label MERE Records together with Knut Olaf Sunde. Karlstrøm has served on TONO's board since 2016.
Members were also appointed to the Distribution Committee, in accordance with TONO's statutes §54 (1). This now consists of Bjørn Eidsvåg (NOPA), Tove Bøygard (NOPA), Kai Robøle (MF), Odd Steenberg (MF), Klaus Sandvik (NKF) and Ine Kristine Hoem (Independent).
