What is a song really worth in kroner and øre? for the songwriter and for the concert organizer? At by:Larm 2025 TONO organized the panel discussion The Priceless Song: Concert Economics in the Balancing Game between Songwriters and Concert Organizers, which is now available as a podcast.

In the episode, TONO chairman Ole Henrik Antonsen and Norwegian Cultural Organizers (NKA) chairman Per-Harald Nilsson meet for an honest summit about concert economics, songwriter rights and distribution in Norwegian music life. The conversation is led by music and media scholar Anja Nylund Hagen.

Without songwriters and composers, there are no songs to perform, and therefore no tickets to sell. But how should the value of songwriting be calculated in a concert context? And what is a fair model for both authors and organizers? These are some of the questions addressed in the episode.
