TONO manages two types of copyrights on behalf of its members: Performance rights and mechanical rights. The latter transfers, or "outsourcing", TONO to the company NCB, which TONO owns in partnership with the other Nordic management organisations. The mechanical rights include the publication of sound material in physical formats and online, and NCB also handles synchronization rights, which involve the use of music for film.
NCB's board of directors has appointed Håkan Hildingsson, current marketing director at NCB, as the new acting CEO after current CEO Karsten Dyhrberg Nielsen was hired as CEO of TONO's Swedish sister society STIM.
– We have worked very well with Karsten Dyhrberg Nielsen for many years. But now that he is leaving for STIM, we are still satisfied that there are other people in NCB's management team who possess the knowledge and qualities required to take the helm of the NCB ship in the future, says Cato Strøm, CEO of TONO and board member of NCB. – There are demanding tasks ahead of Håkan, NCB's other management and board. The most important thing is to continue working on NCB's overall strategy. A new CEO on a permanent basis will be hired when this has been approved.
