Google and TONO have signed an agreement that will allow Google to launch Google Play and Google Movies in Norway. The services were launched earlier this week.

Negotiations between TONO and Google have been ongoing for a few months, and the result is that Norwegian music consumers now have more options when it comes to streaming music and films. For TONO's rights holders, the service naturally also means that they have gained another channel through which they can reach their audience.

So what is Google Play Music and Movies?
Google Play is a store where you can buy songs and albums. There is also a server out "in the cloud" on Google's servers where you can upload music you already have, and play them in Google's interface. It is also a streaming service where the user gets access to around 20 million pieces of music. In other words, about the same as in, for example, WiMP and Spotify. The music can be made offline, and played on devices without an internet connection. The service is available via Google account in browsers and as apps for Android and IOS devices.

Google Play Movies allows users to purchase and rent movies online. The service is available on Android, Mac, PC, and iOS.
