Representatives of creators, artists and creative industries from 50 countries have signed a petition in support of creators in Ukraine, calling for an end to the Russian invasion of the country.
/ 03/05/2022 / Kristian DugstadFour thousand signatures from creators in Norway, Denmark, France, Hungary, Japan, Mexico, Spain, the USA and many more countries have so far been collected for the open letter, which was delivered to the Minister of Culture of Ukraine, Mr. Oleksandr Tkachenko, on April 28. The letter will also be sent to other ministers of culture internationally in the coming days.
The initiative is part of The "Creators for Ukraine" project, which has so far raised 1,2 million euros in financial support, promotes the intellectual works of Ukrainian creators to broadcast and streaming services.
The letter, delivered by CISAC President and co-founder of ABBA, Björn Ulvaeus, Chairman Marcelo Castello Branco, and Director, Gadi Oron, calls on Russia to “stop the murders of innocent civilians, the destruction of cities, the attack on freedom and democracy, the violations of human rights, and the attack on culture.”
The campaign is still ongoing, and creators everywhere are invited to sign the open letter. (link)
Valeriy Kharchyshyn, songwriter, frontman of the Ukrainian band Друга Ріка (Druga Rika), director of the Ukrainian Music Writers' Association NGO-UACRR, said:
