With the album "Fuge der Zeit", composer Gisle Kverndokk has moved beyond the musicals and operas for which he is best known. And perhaps that is why he finds it extra nice to be nominated for the Spellemann in the TONO composer award category.
/ 26/01/2016 / codex– I haven't been that involved in the Spellemannspris world before, so this came as a very pleasant shock to me. As I understand it, TONO's composer prize is new this year, so I don't really know what it means. But when I see all the nominees in the different classes, and since the composer prize is across genres, I'm very honored to be selected! And especially because this album means a lot to me.
– This album, “Fuge der Zeit”, has meant a lot to me. It is the result of many years of collaboration with Nordic Voices, a truly unique vocal group that it is a blessing to work with. This is vocal music/church music/chamber music – music that I have written from the depths of my soul. So it represents a different side of me than musicals and opera (which I am perhaps best known for). I am very happy to finally have a full album of this.
– The list of nominees contains many strong and original composers, so I am very proud to be on that list. But I think it must be very difficult for the jury to judge such different composers, in such different genres. In my genre is also Ørjan Matre, whom I have great admiration for. A fantastically good composer!
