TONO's annual meeting adopted changes to TONO's framework and governing documents. With simpler and more transparent information, TONO's basic documents have become easier to find and understand.
/ 02/07/2025 / Kristian DugstadAt the annual meeting on June 10, 2025, TONO's members adopted a number of changes to the company's articles of association and other governing documents.
The changes are the result of a thorough clean-up effort that the board initiated in 2024, and that parts of TONO's administration have been working on a lot in recent months. The goal of the changes has been to clear up overlapping and somewhat confusing information, and to create a clearer framework for how TONO works, both for our members and for those who use their music.
With the changes, everything is better connected, and it becomes easier to understand the regulations that underpin how we distribute money and manage rights.
The biggest change is that the distribution plan as a separate document has been discontinued. The content that was continued from there has now been moved into the statutes, membership terms and conditions and TONO's principle documents.
In addition to the creation of new licensing principles, the principles for settlement and deductions, as well as the investment strategy, have been clarified and updated. The principles for the use of non-distributable funds, which were previously part of the settlement principles, have now been separated into a separate document.
The membership agreement is now available on tono.no as a single document consisting of the membership agreement and membership terms, as well as information about roles and basic distribution in works. This is available together under a new section on the member pages at tono.no/skapere.

TONO is currently working on implementing a new billing model. The model will be introduced in stages, and will first have an impact on payments in September 2025 – for use in the first quarter of 2025, including from broadcasting. It will be fully implemented in 2029 for performance year 2028.
On August 19th, we invite you to a webinar about the new model. A separate invitation will be sent out to TONO members in early August.
