TONO has sent an email to our concert customers informing them of the first change in TONO's concert tariff. A letter will also be sent to some of our customers about this.

The change, which will come into effect on April 1, 2025, marks the first step in a gradual modernization of TONO's concert tariff. This we first informed about on May 28, 2024.

The reason for the change is to better reflect the real economics of the concert market, where ticket sales often only make up a portion of an organizer's overall concert revenue. The gradual introduction over several years is being done to give our customers, the organizers, time to prepare for the new arrangement.

The first change in the concert payment to the creators that TONO works for means that the payment for the top level in our tier-based model will be adjusted from 2% to 2,5% of gross ticket revenue. This includes individual concerts with gross ticket revenue above approximately NOK 220,000. On April 1, 2026, the percentage rate will be adjusted to 3%.

From 2027, payments to creators will also include concert subsidies.

The final step in the change will take place on 1 January 2027. At that time, payments to songwriters, composers and lyricists will be calculated based on gross ticket revenue and income from subsidies that can be directly linked to the concert performances. Income from activities that are not directly linked to the concert performances will be excluded.

Organizers with a total annual subsidy of less than 50,000 kroner are excluded. Here, the TONO payment will only be calculated based on ticket revenue as before. We have begun a dialogue with the organizer field to determine what can be considered relevant subsidies.

Goal of full digital reporting by 2027

We are committed to making it easy to be a customer of TONO. That is why we are working on digitalization and simplification of reporting. Our goal is for all reporting to be done digitally by 2027.

We look forward to continued good cooperation, and thank the concert organizers for their fantastic efforts in bringing musical experiences to the audience.
