TONO now consists of approximately 25,000 composers, lyricists and music publishers. Spellemann's Composer and Lyricist Awards draw attention to the work they do by highlighting some leading stars. And perhaps this can be an inspiration for the rest of us. The nominees for the Lyricist Award at Spellemann were Erlend Ropstad for "What if it's not as you think it is", Lars Vaular for "1001 Homes", Ole Paus for "The End", Stein Torleif Bjella for "Home to Die" and not least Frida Ånnevik:

The 29-year-old from Hamar has won awards before. In 2009, she received the Grappa debutant prize, and the Songwriters' Foundation's debutant prize the following year. She was nominated for the Spellemann prize in 2010 for the album "Synlige hjerteslag" in the categories Vise and Nykommer. This year, she was nominated in the Vise and Songwriter categories.

The 39-year-old Lars Petter Hagen is a prominent figure in Norwegian music life. He is a composer, a member of the Norwegian Composers' Association and has written works that have been performed at prestigious festivals such as Donaueschinger Musiktage, Maerzmusik, Eclat and Gaudeamus Music Week, by ensembles such as Ensemble Modern, SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden, Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart and not least the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. He has written both vocal and instrumental music, but has also created sound installations and music for stage and film. He received the Arne Nordheim Composer's Prize in 2003, awarded by the Ministry of Culture, and in 2004 he won TONO's Edvard Prize in the Contemporary Music category. He currently sits on the jury for this, and is also the director of the Ultima Festival.

In 2013 he released two albums: a collaboration with electronic music producer Pantha du Prince and in August the recording for which he was awarded a Spellemannspris was released last weekend. It featured Hagens' works performed by the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Rolf Gupta and Gjermund Larsen.

The other nominees in the composer category at Spellemann were Jenny Hval for "Innocence in Kinky", the Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra/Magnus Loddgard/Thomas Kjekstad/Sverre Riise/Marius Hesby/Thomas Rimul for "Fierce Kentucky Mothers of Doom", Moddi for "Kæm va du?" and Moddi for "Set The House On Fire".
