EXTRAORDINARY ANNUAL MEETING SEPTEMBER 1

DEAR TONO MEMBER

• TONO's board announced on June 18 that an extraordinary annual meeting will be called on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. This will be held physically at Sentralen in Oslo at 5:00 PM and as a digital meeting. Doors open at 4:00 PM
• The notice with case papers will be sent out no later than August 18th.
• The deadline for submitting matters for the annual meeting is August 11, 2026.

To strengthen transparency and involvement leading up to the annual meeting, a page has now been created on tono.no where you can follow the process leading up to September 1. Here we will post ongoing updates and relevant information. You can find the page under “About TONO” in the top menu, and then “Rules and framework”. Here is a shortcut.

THAT'S WHY IT WILL BE AN EXTRAORDINARY ANNUAL MEETING

It became clear during the annual meeting, and in media coverage and debate in the aftermath, that there are strong contradictions within the membership. TONO has received resignations afterwards, and some have announced the same.

TONO's collective management model should embrace the full spectrum, from the young and unestablished to professional players, across genres. With such clear contradictions in the membership, TONO's board believes it is necessary to present revised proposals for new consideration at the annual meeting.

WIDER INVOLVEMENT

The board will plan for broader involvement leading up to the extraordinary annual meeting. The board will therefore invite members, member organizations and other relevant stakeholders for dialogue and input. Emphasis will also be placed on explaining the matters to be dealt with well in advance of the meeting in a simple and easily understandable way in TONO's channels. An input meeting will also be arranged in August, with the possibility of both physical and digital participation. Input can also be submitted by email. More information about this will be available on the new annual meeting page on tono.noNew information emails will also be sent out at the beginning of August.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to answer our survey about the annual meeting. It has given us valuable knowledge. Among other things, we see that we must work to ensure that more people feel that their participation at the annual meeting has meaning, and that the annual meetings must be felt to be more relevant, especially for young members. We have also received other clear feedback that we have noted and will take forward.
