On Tuesday, February 13, Gisle Kverndokk received the EDVARD Prize for 2006 in the Open Class category for his work "The Fourth Night Watch".

Gisle Kverndokk was born in February 1967 and has just turned 40. He has, among other things, created the musicals "" and "" with Øystein Wiik. Kverndokk plays the flute and piano and is active as a theater and orchestra musician. He has previously been awarded the Anders Jahre Cultural Prize for Young Artists, the Hansen Family Scholarship in 1997 and the Lili Boulanger's Memorial Fund at Boston University in 1999.
The EDVARD Prize, named after Edvard Grieg, is a prize awarded by TONO to composers and women for excellent musical works, and last year Arne Nordheim was awarded the prize in the contemporary music class and Kjartan Kristiansen in the popular music class.
