On September 22, Arne Nordheim received TONO's EDVARD Prize for the work "FONOS" in the contemporary music category. The prize of NOK 50.000, as well as a trophy and diploma, was presented by Åse Kleveland before the performance of Nordheim's "Draumkvedet" with Grex Vocalis and the Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra in the Church of the Holy Trinity.

Arne Nordheim was born in Larvik in 1931, and is one of Norway's most prominent composers.
He studied organ, piano and music theory at the Oslo Conservatory of Music from 1948-1951 and was also a leading music critic for many years. Nordheim currently resides in the state's honorary residence for artists, Grotten.
The EDVARD Prize, named after Edvard Grieg, is a prize awarded by TONO to composers for outstanding musical works, and during the autumn and winter of 2006, we will also award prizes in the categories "Popular Music" and "Open Class".
