This year marks 20 years since the EDVARD Prize was first awarded. Here are this year's nominees.
/ 06/11/2018 / Willy MartinsenTONO, a cooperative owned and managed by Norwegian composers, songwriters, lyricists and music publishers and which manages performance rights in musical works, has awarded the EDVARD Prize to composers and lyricists annually (except in 2009) since 1998. The prize consists of a trophy, a diploma and kr 50,000. With the EDVARD Prize, TONO wants to create increased attention for composers and lyricists and the new music that is being created.
Since the first award ceremony in 1998, a total of 94 awards have been presented in various categories. Over the years, the EDVARD Award has gone to, among others, Odd Børretzen, Kjetil Bjerkestrand/Magne Furuholmen, Maja Ratkje, Egil Monn-Iversen, Øystein Sunde, Nils Henrik Asheim, Erik Bye, Kari Bremnes, Susanne Sundfør, Ørjan Matre, Thea Hjelmeland, Lars Vaular, Marit Larsen and Susanna Wallumrød.
The list is in random order. The winners will be announced on November 27th.

The jury for the EDVARD Prize 2018 consists of Arvid Wam Solvang (jury chair), Hilde Wahl, Stine Lieng, Jan Stefan Bengtsson, Klaus Sandvik, Therese Birkelund Ulvo, Rita Engedalen and Ole Børud.
About the EDVARD Prize
The EDVARD Prize is named after Edvard Grieg, and is a prize that TONO has awarded annually since 1998. The prize is awarded to authors who have created musical works and lyrics of high artistic quality. With the prize, TONO wants to increase attention to Norwegian composers and lyricists, and to increase Norwegians' understanding of, and knowledge of, newly written Norwegian music. The winner's music or lyrics must have been premiered or published in the previous year, but emphasis is also placed on the author's other production. The prize consists of kr 50,000,-, as well as a trophy and a diploma.
The EDVARD Prize will be awarded this year in a closed celebration of TONO's 90th anniversary on November 27th.
