EDVARD Prize to Ørjan Matre

Ørjan Matre is the winner of TONO's Edvard Prize 2012 in the category "Contemporary Music" for the clarinet concerto Inside Out - concerto for clarinet and orchestra. A work that the jury believes is "irritatingly well written" and which they believe will remain in the orchestras' repertoire.

Minister of Education Kristin Halvorsen presented the award during the opening of the "Arne Nordheim Center - Center for New and Experimental Music" on Monday, September 10 at 20:00 PM. The opening of the Arne Nordheim Center at the Norwegian Academy of Music is part of the Ultima Festival. - Says the jury in its statement.

 The prize consists of Bruno Oldani's unique trophy, diploma and NOK 50.000.
