EDVARD Prize to Jorun Marie Kvernberg

For the first time in the history of the EDVARD Prize, the prize was awarded in the category of traditional music. The prize is also the first of a total of 6 prizes to be awarded this year.

Jorun Marie Kvernberg was awarded TONO's EDVARD Prize on September 2nd for her work "Då kom du". The prize of 40,000 kroner and the EDVARD trophy were presented by Kirsten Bråten Berg during the ÀRINN festival in Kristiansand. The jury says the following about the work:

Jorun Marie Kvernberg, who comes from Fræna in Romsdal, is a composer and fiddle player. She is a member of the Majorstuen fiddlers' group and Tindra.

The other nominees for the award were Kristin Mellem/Ingor Antte Ailu Gaup with the work "Jeddehus" and Steinar Ofsdal with "Suite for flutes, Harding fiddle and string quartet". Read more about these nominations.
