OSLO: Bent Sæther and Hans Magnus Ryan received TONO's Edvard Prize during the Øya Festival on Saturday, August 14. Sæther and Ryan received the award in the popular music category for the album Child of the Future.

Bent Sæther and Hans Magnus Ryan accepted the Edvard Prize on the Enga stage just before they closed this year's Øya Festival. They received the award for the songs on last year's album.
"I'm going to buy potato chips and soda with the money," said a happy Hans Magnus Ryan from the stage.
The Edvard Prize consists of Bruno Oldani's unique trophy, diploma and NOK 50.000.
Child of the Future
This year's jury consisted of Rolf Wallin, Maja Solveig Kjelstrup Ratkje, Tore Hansen, Dag Krogsvold, Ingrid Kindem and Synne Skouen (jury chair).
The Edvard Awards will be presented in the summer and autumn of 2010. Nils Petter Molvær received the award in the open class during the Molde Jazz Festival and Kari Bremnes received the award for lyrics to music at the Opera on July 29.
The Edvard Prize, named after Edvard Grieg, is an award given by TONO to composers and women for outstanding musical works. The prize is given to composers and women who have created musical works and lyrics for music of high artistic quality.
With the award, TONO wants to increase awareness of Norwegian composers and lyricists and increase people's understanding and knowledge of newly written Norwegian music. The winner's music or lyrics must have been premiered or published in the previous year. Emphasis is also placed on the author's other production.
TONO is the organization of composers, lyricists and music publishers.
