The organization Musikkforlaggerne receives compensation for copying printed Norwegian musical works from Kopinor. These funds will be distributed to Norwegian music publishers, and the deadline for applications is June 21 at 11 a.m.

Royalties from copying are mainly collective royalties. There is only statistical material that provides the country of origin of publication and author, but not which work has been copied. A committee evaluated the scheme in 2018, and the annual meeting of the Norwegian Music Publishers Association approved a new model for distribution in May 2019, which is the result of what you can see below. Norwegian-registered music publishers domiciled in Norway may receive remuneration. The distribution is divided into two groups:
The music publisher must therefore complete the attached form, "Form for reporting works", in order to receive remuneration based on this.
The distribution is based on the Norwegian Main Settlement TONO/NCB, including performance/mechanical from co-published and sub-published Norwegian works in Norway. The Norwegian Main Settlement from TONO/NCB is obtained after authorization from music publishers.
The music publisher must therefore complete this in order to receive remuneration based on this. Several publishers have submitted such a power of attorney previously, but as this is a new distribution, the music publishers would like such a power of attorney to be submitted again.
Music publishers are dependent on authorizations and reports in order to distribute royalties, and if these are not submitted, they will not be able to distribute royalties to their music publishers.
As the proposed model represents a shift in relation to the previous scheme, the board proposes a transitional arrangement so that music publishers can adapt their activities in accordance with this: For those music publishers that come out negatively from the scheme compared to the distribution model in 2017, these will be compensated with 100% in the first year, 50% in the next year, and 25% in a third and final year, limited to the funds available for the purpose. The funds will be taken from accumulated older Kopinor fees. Music publishers must apply for compensation themselves.
The minimum amount to receive compensation is NOK 250.
Membership in Musikkforlaggerne is not a condition for applying. All information is treated confidentially within Musikkforlaggerne.
