15 songs, pieces of music and albums are now competing to become this year's winners of TONO's EDVARD Award. The nominees will be announced today.

The EDVARD Prize is a prestigious composer and songwriter prize that has been awarded since 1998. Previous winners include Undergrunn, Karpe, Sigrid Raabe and Ole Paus.
TONO is now announcing the 15 nominees in five different categories. The winners will be announced in October and will receive 70,000 kroner and a trophy designed by Magne Furuholmen.
– There is an incredibly exciting amount happening in music creation in Norway at the moment. More music is being created, released and performed than ever before. With the EDVARD nominations, we are shining the spotlight on some of the strongest and most beautiful music that was made in Norway last year, and the people behind it, says Svanhild Katrine Skrede, who is a member consultant at TONO.
The jury consists of composers, lyricists and music publishers:
Johanne Flottorp (Independent, jury chair), Agnes Hvizdalek (Norwegian Composers' Association), Alexander Austheim (NOPA), Andrew Smith (Music Publishers), Jan Erik Mikalsen (Norwegian Composers' Association), Kristoffer Magnus Unstad (Independent), Marie Stene Brendstrup (Music Publishers) and Thea Hjelmeland (NOPA).
TONO has awarded the EDVARD Prize since 1998. It is named after Edvard Grieg, and is awarded to TONO members who have created music and lyrics of high artistic quality. The prize is awarded in the five categories Popular, Contemporary, Open Class, Text and Challenger. The prize consists of a trophy and a diploma designed by artist and composer colleague Magne Furuholmen, as well as an amount of kr 70,000. The jury consists of 8 leading composers, songwriters and music publishers.
