Among the songwriters and composers who can take home awards from the 2024 Music Publishers Award are Kristoffer Lo, Emma Steinbakken and Eivind Buene. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on February 28 at Kulturkirken Jakob in Oslo.
/ 11/01/2024 / Kristian DugstadThis year, the Music Publishers Award, which is the only one of its kind in Norway, is being held for the tenth time. The award ceremony is organized by Musikkforleggerne, and honors Norwegian music publishers and their authors who are members of TONO, for their work and results in the past year. Awards are given in six categories in addition to an honorary award.
– The Music Publishers Award plays an important role for cultural Norway as it shines a spotlight on one of the most important things we have; namely the creators! We as a music industry, but also as a diverse society, depend on the creation of new, varied, controversial and traditional music that strengthens and challenges us. The Music Publishers Award therefore celebrates the creators, and the music publishers who make it possible for being an author to be a living. This year, the stage is set for a festive evening full of beautiful performances and not least exciting nominees!, says Chairman of the Music Publishers Award, Asbjørn Myrvold.
The nominees represent the enormous breadth and quality that exists among Norwegian composers and songwriters, and also reflect the work that music publishers do throughout the year to elevate both the music and the authors nationally and internationally. Emma Steinbakkenken is one of the artists and songwriters who has made a big difference in recent years. She is nominated for Author of the Year – Popular Music and says the following about the nomination:
