If you can document that you or others have performed your works at concerts in the USA in 2015, you can now apply to TONO's sister organization ASCAP for compensation. The scheme is called Ascap OnStage, and the time to apply is now, but the deadline is already May 10th.
About filling out the form
To be able to get paid for this from Ascap you must download this form to your machine, fill it out and return it to wenche.gjestvang@tono.no, who will take this further with Ascap. Use one row in the form for each work performed. If several of your works have been performed at the same concert, create a row for each work, where you enter the work ID and title. At least one of the three fields for work identification must be completed for each reported work, and in the following priority order: ISWC, ASCAP Work ID or work number at TONO. The CAE number is the same as the IPI number, which you can find by logging into TONO's web services. Please contact Member Services at medlem@tono.no or 22 05 72 80 to find out the ISWC or work number in TONO.
Ascap operates with three categories of applications:
This includes the 300 largest tours and concert venues, such as the Hollywood Bowl (Los Angeles) and Radio City Music Hall (New York).
To do this, you must include the date of the performance, who performed the work(s), the concert venue, the list of works and a PDF copy of the concert program. You only need to submit one application per performance as long as any co-composers are listed and registered as copyright holders in the individual work. As long as the work is correctly registered with the correct authors in the work at TONO, everyone will be paid for the work. It is not mandatory to list the playing time, but it is wise to include it so that you have the most thorough documentation possible.
Regarding concert performances at venues licensed by Ascap, but not covered by points 1 and 2 above, you must comply with the following: You can only apply for 2015, and must be submitted to TONO no later than May 10, 2016. Performances that took place in 2016 must be created in separate files so that they can be used in 2017. Complete the OnStage Claim template, and fill in all required fields listed below. Missing any of this information in your application may result in your application being rejected and may result in you not receiving any payment for the reported performance or possibly delayed processing. All claims from your collaborators (e.g. co-authors in your works) must be included in a single file, Ascap does not accept individual files for each co-author.
Here is a list of the "Required fields" that you MUST fill out:
Download this form to your own computer, fill it out and then email the completed copy to wenche.gjestvang@tono.no by the end of May 10th.
