The Norwegian Choir Association invites you to a seminar and dialogue meeting between composers and choir conductors on Friday this week from 9-11:30 am at Bruket in Oslo. The deadline for registration is Thursday, December 13th at 12 noon.
/ 12/12/2018 / Willy MartinsenAt Bruket, with address Schweigaardsgate 34C (the old "Agricultural House"), on Friday 14 December from 9 am to 11:30 am, choir conductors and composers have a golden opportunity to get to know each other even better. The Norwegian Choir Association's Oslo and Akershus sections are behind the dialogue meeting.
– We are setting up a panel of conductors and composers, and also inviting choir conductors and composers to participate. We are also inviting music publishers, NB-notes and members of music committees in choirs, says Beate Styri, who is currently responsible for communications at the Norwegian Composers' Association, but who in this context is vice president of the Choral Association.
– The goal of the dialogue meeting is to give conductors, music committees and composers the opportunity to meet and get inspiration and tips on working methods and examples of good collaborative processes. We would also like to remind you of the schemes that exist for applying for support for commissioned works and the financial framework for commissioned rates.
How can composer, conductor and choir collaborate?
The panel, which is composed of invited composers and conductors, will share their experiences with various forms of collaboration between conductor, choir and composer. After the presentation, the audience will be invited to ask questions to conductors and composers, both in plenary and individually. A light lunch will be served and the venue will be closed until 12 noon, so informal conversations with composers, publishers and other conductors are also possible after the panel has finished its presentations and the Q&A session.
In the panel:
The moderator for the panel is Hild Borchgrevink, who recently led the presentation of nominated composers for the Nordic Council Music Prize. Hild Borchgrevink is a writer, former editor of Scenekunst.no and currently holds a working grant as a critic. She has extensive choir experience, experience from festival and concert arranging in the contemporary music field and is a member of the jury for the Nordic Council Music Prize.
Admission is free, but registration is required for catering purposes. Please register as soon as possible, but no later than December 13th at 12 noon.
For those who are unable to attend, we will stream the panel live. See also the event's The Facebook event.
