– The genre has become the living room

The Nordicana wave is a fact. In addition to Signe Marie Rustad, artists such as Malin Pettersen, Unnveig Aas, The Northern Belle, Silver Lining and The Secret Sound of Dreamwalkers are receiving great attention.

– It has become popular to like country music and the genre has become the most popular. Americana is so incredibly diverse, so now that it has become cool, more and more people are discovering that they like it, says Rustad.

However, it has taken time. Rustad believes that the work of professional players, such as Jansen's sub-label Die With Your Boots On Records, has been an important factor in the change in attitude.

– Malin Pettersen has said a lot about how she didn't even get a reply to her emails for a long time. Then suddenly something happened, and this year we will both be playing at Øyafestivalen. I'm not sure if that would have happened a few years ago.
