Before using recorded music (on audio recordings or audiovisual recordings) in a theatrical performance, you must always first clarify with TONO whether the planned use can be cleared and licensed.
This applies regardless of whether the use is also covered by Gramo's collection area. Gramo does not clear such rights, but only collects remuneration for the use of sound recordings on behalf of performing artists and producers when the legal conditions are met.
If the planned use cannot be cleared through TONO, the theatrical performance may lack the necessary copyright permissions to use the recorded music.

From autumn 2025 you will receive theatre contracts for Gramo – at TONO. Below you will find information about reporting, prices and the form to be used for reporting.
In the form below you can report background music in performances, if you are an institutional theater, independent scenic group or private theater. There you will also find an overview of our prices.
When a performance is shown 5 or more times in a row at the same location, the fee is reduced by 25% for the entire performance period. The same applies to consecutive tours with 5 or more performances. All performances using recorded music must be reported. Anything not played on the main stage must be reported on the side stage. Reporting forms must be submitted twice a year.

When a performance is shown 25 or more times consecutively at the same venue, the fee is reduced by 50% for the entire performance period. The same applies to tours with 25 or more performances. What is the difference between a main stage and a side stage in this context? In addition to permanent side stages associated with the theatre, we also count: • A side stage is a permanent stage at a theatre in addition to the main stage. • Performances that are staged outside the theatre's permanent stage, e.g. during school hours, at leisure clubs and at senior institutions. Reporting forms must be submitted twice a year.
