When you sign a membership agreement with TONO, you entrust the financial management of your musical works to us. This allows you to earn income from your music that you would not otherwise have received.
When you are a TONO member, we ensure that you are granted permission for the public performance of your musical works, whether at concerts, on the radio, on TV, on the Internet, at the hairdresser's or in other public settings. And last but not least: We ensure that you are paid TONO royalties when your music is used.
TONO has more than 45,000 Norwegian composers, lyricists and music publishers under management contracts with TONO. Some work full-time creating music. Others write and perform music in their spare time. In TONO there is room for everyone who writes music that is performed publicly. Below you will find information on how you can apply for a management contract with us. We hope to hear from you!

Application criteria for originators are as follows:
You must be able to reference at least one original written work, or approved arrangement, that is either:
a) Performed publicly (live, TV, radio, etc.), and which can thus generate TONO settlement
b) Recorded on CD/DVD etc. and released by a record label for distribution and sale.
NOTE! Own digital releases, e.g. on iTunes, TIDAL, Spotify etc. also meet the conditions.
Please note that the work referred to in the application will not automatically be registered in TONO. Once the application has been granted, you must remember to register this, along with any other works, with us.
For music publishers, separate conditions apply:
The publisher must have an agreement with at least one author of a published musical work.
A copy of the publishing contract for this work must be attached to the application. A copy of the company certificate from Brønnøysund must also be attached, as well as a published copy of the work. However, the latter does not apply if the applicant is a sub-publisher. If the applicant is a sub-publisher, it is sufficient to have obtained the above from the original publisher who has an agreement with the author.
The publishing contract must be in accordance with TONO's distribution plan. Reference is made in particular to §14.
