Was your music performed in concert in the US in 2021?

Have you or others performed your works in concert in the United States in 2021? You can now apply for the ASCAP OnStage scheme.

 / 21/04/2022 /

If you can document that your musical works have been performed in concert in the United States between January 1 and December 31, 2021, you can now apply for funding from TONO's American sister society ASCAP.

ASCAP mainly bases its concert billings on excerpts of the concerts that are held, and many rights holders therefore experience not being paid. The ASCAP OnStage scheme compensates for this by allowing authors to distribute concert reports themselves.

To be eligible to receive payment for this from ASCAP, you must download, save and complete the this form. Be sure to give the file a clear name. Return the document to wenche.gjestvang@tono.noTONO forwards the information to ASCAP.

All applications must be submitted to TONO by May 2nd.

It is important to follow the instructions carefully, as applications that are not completed correctly will be rejected. Use one row in the form for each work performed. If several of your works have been performed at the same concert, create a row for each work, where you enter the work ID and title. At least one of the three fields for work identification must be completed for each reported work. If the work has an ISWC number, use this. You can use the work number at TONO, if you do not have an ISWC. These numbers are available under work details in My TONO. CAE number is the same as IPI number, this can be found on the profile page in My TONOContact Member Services at medlem@tono.no or 22 05 72 80 for any questions regarding this.

ASCAP operates with three categories of applications:

1. Live Pop Performances for OnStage

These are live performances of pop music that have not taken place at the venues listed under point 3, or that fall under point 2. For this point, you must comply with the following: You can apply for concerts that have taken place in 2021, and the application must be submitted to TONO no later than May 2, 2022. Complete the OnStage Claim template that you download here, and complete all required fields listed below. Missing any of this information from your application may result in your application being rejected and may result in you not being paid for the reported performance or in delayed processing. All claims from your collaborators (e.g., co-authors of your works) must be included in a single file; ASCAP does not accept individual files for each co-author.
