Disagreeing with "songwriter dogma"

– There is a dogma that a good song must be playable on acoustic guitar and vocals for it to be a good song. I think that is just nonsense, says EDVARD award winner Jarle Bernhoft.


– I have different criteria for what can be a good song, he says. Exactly what These criteria are, you can see him reveal in the video interview above. The recordings were made in his home studio in Oslo a few weeks ago, in connection with TONO awarding him the EDVARD Prize 2015 for the album "Islander" in the category Popular Music.

With both a Grammy nomination, and now an EDVARD award, for "Islander", Jarle Bernhoft now believes that the album could be his masterpiece. Read the jury's reasoning here.
