TONO has entered into an agreement with the Norwegian Music Council for the organizing teams in the second half of 2021.
/ 29/10/2021 / Willy MartinsenOn Monday, October 25, TONO's director of negotiations, Geir Gaarder, signed an agreement with the Norwegian Music Council that regulates the performances for the organizing teams in the Norwegian Music Council (NMR) for the second half of 2021.
TONO normally has ongoing year-round agreements with NMR for the performing teams and the organizing teams, respectively. TONO's previous agreement with NMR expired on 31 December 2021. This was then terminated by NMR based on the unpredictability of the Covid-19 situation. In the first half of 2021, there was no central agreement between NMR and TONO, and the individual performing teams and organizing teams had to apply for permission and pay fees individually.
The agreement involves a simplification for the organizing teams and TONO as the agreement provides one permit for all performances regulated by the agreement rather than each individual team or organization being obliged to apply for a TONO permit for each individual event. An agreement for the other main area under NMR, the performing teams, was signed earlier this year.
According to the agreement, NMR will pay TONO remuneration for the performances in the second half of the year. Those organizing teams that have already applied and paid for the second half of the year will be credited. The individual organizing team must report the repertoire for all performances to TONO collectively no later than the end of 2021.
