Jarle Bernhoft already has a long recording career behind him, and in this a breadth of genres that most people can only dream of. This is particularly evident in “Islander”. Here we experience a songwriter who puts the idea and message uncompromisingly at the center, and who recreates his expression from song to song. At the same time, the release bears the mark of an author with solid musical security, which is reflected in an indisputable steadiness – both in the individual songs and in the release as a whole. Although nothing is left to chance, the listener is constantly surprised by a sea of delightful musical antics and genre variations. And through this sea, Bernhoft navigates the listener effortlessly and naturally with his powerful but playful vocals. His virtuosity as a performer gives him extra possibilities in composition, which he uses to the fullest.
Despite its intricate and varied expression, "Islander" is nevertheless characterized by being accessible and immediately tasty. Bernhoft stands with "Islander" for last year's best party. A party that extends far beyond 2014 and Norway's borders.
