His musical expertise, position and burning commitment have contributed to developing, elevating and presenting a wide range of Norwegian composers, lyricists and performers. From having contributed significantly to putting the concept of "Nordic jazz" on the international music map, Eicher has in recent years become involved with high-profile releases also within classical, experimental contemporary music. Eicher thus appears today as a courageous, independent mediator in a broad field of contemporary expression.
Most often in collaboration with Jan Erik Kongshaug, he has initiated more than a thousand recordings, and thus also contributed to an invaluable enrichment of the Norwegian studio environment.
