Settlement of income from background music for 2024 and 2025 

TONO receives revenue from a number of locations where the venues do not report what music is played. This includes restaurants, hotels, stores, gyms and public transportation. Since we do not have direct reporting from these locations, we distribute revenue on a representative basis that reflects actual music usage. The reporting basis is approved by TONO's board each year.

This is how we have established the basis

For the settlement in 2024 and 2025, we have used the following data sources:

These data sources provide a representative picture of music usage in various channels and areas, and form the basis for which channels, services and usage areas are included in the base – and what proportion of the total amount they constitute.

Distribution of background income

The income is distributed across three pools and three areas. The pools are based on the representative reporting basis described above. For the last three areas, i.e. fitness studios, in-store music and museums/art exhibitions, we settle directly on actual usage reports: For fitness studios and in-store music, reports from music streaming services for the corporate market are used. For museums and art exhibitions, reports from members and customers are used.
