It is unpredictable, Johan Sara jr invites us on a journey, and we are happy to follow. From the minimalist to the great epic, all rooted in something we can all recognize in – namely our roots.
Johan Sara jr has taken his Sami roots as a starting point, the sounds of the plateau, joik, reindeer, dogs and water form the instrumentation in the music. It is nuanced, details are processed beyond recognition and placed creatively in the soundscape. Here we find vocal cluster chords and sophisticated electronic processing of organic sound sources where the contrasts are great. The music makes us think about the seasons, fragments of what is to come are used in an effective musical context.
Johan Sara Jr. dares to dwell on the moods without it becoming boring and with this album creates music that abolishes genre-based divisions in contemporary music.
