The jury's reasoning

In the open class we find a composer who has long impressed us with his ability to use impulses from others and to juggle between styles. Transferred to his own language, with professional confidence, he plays with clichés and quotes in an impulsive and innovative way that is both impressive and fascinating. This talent is particularly evident in larger-scale music drama, where the interaction between text, action and music within the strict framework of the theater must be respected. In his other production of contemporary music, he formulates himself in a topical and searching manner. The overall impression is of a creative and productive author with much on his heart and an open attitude to writing music. This year's work is based on Johan Falkberget's "The Fourth Night Watch" with libretto by Ivar Tindberg.
