TONO is a cooperative owned and managed by composers, lyricists and music publishers, and which manages the economic copyrights on their behalf.

As of December 31, 2022, TONO had 39,060 members, and also manages the rights of millions of authors and music publishers in Norwegian territory.

The EU Directive on collective management of copyright (2014/26/EU) was adopted in 2014, and implemented in Norwegian law by the Act on Collective Management of Copyright etc. of 28 May 2021 No. 49. According to the law, TONO is required to produce an annual transparency report. The information included in this report is, in TONO's understanding, in accordance with the requirements for a transparency report in the regulations to the Act on Collective Management of Copyright and the Act on Collective Management of Copyright.
It is TONO's wish that the transparency report will provide deeper insight into and understanding of TONO's unique nature, operations, finances and governance - among our members, sister societies, customers, the rest of the music industry and other interested parties.
