If you are going to organize a festival, you must contact TONO well in advance. Not only is it an obligation – it also ensures predictability for you as the organizer, and not least: Those who have composed the music and written the lyrics can receive their TONO payments faster.
/ 11/05/2022 / Kristian DugstadTONO loves festivals! Both the audience, artists, and the composers, lyricists and songwriters TONO works for owe a big thank you to all those who work day and night to create magical musical moments at small and large festivals in Norway.
Composers, lyricists and songwriters own their own music, and must each give permission each time it is to be used publicly – including at your festival. You will not have to do this big job because of TONO:
With us, concert organizers receive one permit on behalf of millions of rights holders, both Norwegian and from the rest of the world. It couldn't be easier.
Permission from the music creators must be in place before the festival takes place. You as the organizer must therefore, on your own initiative, contact TONO and obtain permission as early as possible, and at the latest before The festival is underway.
Then you have the formalities in order, you have predictability with regard to the TONO payment, and with quick reporting to TONO of what has been performed immediately after the festival is over - you also contribute to ensuring that those who have had their music and lyrics performed at the festival receive the money from TONO as quickly as possible.
