Conductors Peter Szilvay and Ingar Bergby have been named Performers of the Year 2010 by the Norwegian Composers' Association. The award was presented at the Norwegian Composers' Association's pre-Christmas party on Saturday, December 18th and consisted of a gift check for kr 15.000,- to each of the prize winners.
/ 21/12/2010 / codexThis year, the Norwegian Composers' Association has chosen to nominate two conductors as Performers of the Year to emphasize the importance of the new generation of Norwegian conductors for new music. These are two conductors who have each made a significant contribution to Norwegian music and who have raised the understanding of Norwegian art music in a serious, natural and energetic way.
The honorary title Performer of the Year is awarded by the Norwegian Composers' Association to a musician or ensemble that promotes new Norwegian music in an exceptional way. Previous recipients of the award include Cikada, the Vestlandet Armed Forces Band and POING.
