The implementation of two EU directives will result in changes to the Copyright Act. This may have consequences for TONO's members. Here is our consultation response to the preliminary text of the law.
/ 20/03/2024 / Kristian DugstadIn connection with the introduction of new EU legislation, Norwegian intellectual property rights must be changed. The two directives that will now be implemented in Norway are the Digital Markets Directive and the Network and Retransmission Directive, also known as DSM and SatCab II.
Proposals for amended copyright laws have been put out for consultation.
There is much good in the Ministry of Culture's updated legal text, but TONO fears that a number of proposals will be harmful to Norwegian composers and lyricists.
– Clearer regulation of artificial intelligence is necessary, and the right to fair remuneration is actually likely to be undermined if the proposed text is not amended, says CEO of TONO, Karl Vestli.
