What do you listen to most?
I listen to a lot of different things as I grew up in a musical family with a lot of classical music, The Beatles and psychedelic 70s prog. But I listen mostly to rock and indie at the moment. Right now I'm having a period with a lot of Queens of The Stone Age and Tycho.
What album did you last buy?
"To The Treetops!" by Team Me, but it's been a while. Since I use Spotify Premium, unfortunately I don't buy many albums... I would like to buy a lot more music on vinyl, but I don't have a record player. I save as much as I can!
What inspires you?
Everything from personal experiences to fascination and reflection on the little things in life. When the surroundings around me give me peace and quiet to go within myself and explore my thoughts, I am inspired in a healthy and natural way. And especially now in the fall, when the colors change and the air becomes cold and crisp – that is when I am most creative.
What time of day do you compose?
It varies a bit, but I usually write either quite early in the morning or late at night. When inspiration strikes, it's hard to stop, so I often stay up late at night writing music. One night after work in Sandvika, I came up with a melody on the train – but my mobile phone was out of battery, so I couldn't record it on the recorder! I had to sit and hum the melody to myself over and over again all the way home so I wouldn't forget it… I got some strange looks, but you have to, you have to!
What do you like to do when you're not making music?
I really enjoy dreaming about movies, books, and TV shows. I love social board games, and have been a video gamer my whole life.
Your greatest musical experience?
The worst thing I've ever experienced has to be the first concert we played with Eye Emma Jedi at the Malakoff Rock Festival in 2011. There were 2,500 people who went crazy at the concert. You wouldn't have thought it was the first time people had seen us. I'm from Nordfjordeid myself, so it was fantastic that so many friends and acquaintances were in the audience.
Your dream concert?
I wish I could have seen The Beatles live in their glory days!
Plans for the future?
We escaped '88 EP with Eye Emma Jedi in the fall, and was on a Norwegian tour in October. We've been working a lot on our tour plans for the new year around the album release. We went to Spain last year for 100 days to write and record our debut album, and it's something I'm really excited to show off.
TONO is essential for making music a living
Why have you chosen to join TONO?
It's important to have control over my rights as an artist, and in a time where there are fewer music sales, most of the income comes from royalties and concerts. TONO is essential to being able to make a living from music. Thank you for existing!
